Work-Related MSK Disorders in Sonographers: Bridging the Gap

Work-Related MSK Disorders in Sonographers: Bridging the Gap
USA based Occupational Medicine Physician Dr. Yusef Sayeed presents on epidemiology, ergonomics, hazard control and how to reduce injuries in the sonography profession. Available until 17JUN20

This webinar is available to view until 17th June 2020

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSD) among sonographers were first reported in 1985 as ‘sonographers shoulder’. Cardiac sonographers were first identified for WRMSD in 1993 and extensive surveys built on this further indicating multiple causative factors. International statistics indicate 80-90% of sonographers across disciplines experience work-related pain, with one in five experiencing a career ending injury. While in Australia and New Zealand this is more prevalent in sonographers, there is increasing evidence of injury and pain occurring across all ultrasound practitioners and needs to be acknowledged and proactively managed before a career ending injury results.

Learn from the expert!
Dr Yusef Sayeed, Master Educator-Musculoskeletal Medicine and Director of Pain Medicine and Functional Rehabilitation in Florida, USA will be presenting on musculoskeletal injury relating to ultrasound.
Whilst this may typically affect sonographers, it will be relevant to all ultrasound practitioners.
