Medical Member

Professional Membership is available to Medical Practitioners in New Zealand registered with MCNZ. Medical Practitioners intending to enrol in the CCPU or DDU should join under this membership category, if they do not meet the requirements of Trainee Associate Membership. Please read sections 11.2 and 11.3 of the constitution for your entitlements and requirements as a Professional Member. Please ensure you have your MCNZ registration number ready before proceeding with your application.

Trainee Associate Member

Trainee Associate Membership is available to Medical Practitioners who are enrolled and completing a specialist training program at a medical college in New Zealand. Trainees intending to enrol in the CCPU or DDU should join under this membership category if they can provide a letter from their Head of Department or medical training college. This letter must be uploaded at time of application of membership. Trainees will not receive access to AJUM Journal, Research Grants or have voting rights. Please read section 11.7 of the constitution for your entitlements and requirements as an Associate Member.

Sonographer Member

Professional Membership is available to Sonographers within New Zealand registered with the MRTB. Please read sections 11.2 and 11.4 of the constitution for your entitlements and requirements as a Professional Member. Please ensure you have your MRTB register number ready before proceeding with your application. If you are currently not registered but hold a qualification, please have your supporting evidence available for your application.

Scientific Member

Professional Membership is available to those that hold academic degrees in medicine, engineering or veterinary, biological or physical science or similar; or who carry out research approved by an ethics committee of an Australian or New Zealand university or the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation or the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research into the development of medical ultrasound instrumentation and techniques; or who investigate the effects of ultrasound on tissue. Please read sections 11.2 and 11.5 of the constitution for your entitlements and requirements as a Professional Member.

Allied Health Member

Professional Membership is available to those who hold an allied health qualification (such as nursing, physiotherapy, chiropractic, genetic counselling, optometry, podiatry and speech pathology) accredited in Australia or New Zealand (or a similar qualification that is deemed equivalent by the Board). Please read sections 11.2 and 11.6 of the constitution for your entitlements and requirements as a Professional Member.

Allied Health (CAHPU) Member

Professional Membership is available to those who are enrolling in the Certificate in Allied Health Performed Ultrasound (CAHPU). For more information on enrolling in the CAHPU please click here. Please read sections 11.2 and 11.6 of the constitution for your entitlements and requirements as a Professional Member.

Students

Students that are enrolled in a sonography course (1st qualification only) accredited by the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board or the Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (or a sonography course which is deemed to be equivalent by the Board); enrolled in a medicine degree by an accredited university or institution within Australia or New Zealand; or a student enrolled in a healthcare related profession, as deemed appropriate by the Board are deemed Associate Members. Sonographers enrolled in their 2nd qualification will need to join as a Professional Member Sonographer. Please read section 11.7 of the constitution for your entitlements and requirements as an Associate Member.
